PRIOR TO TREATMENT DAY

~ No Botox treatments within the two-weeks of plasma treatment.

~ While clients in the Fitzpatrick 4-5 range MUST take hyperpigment prevention measures at least TWO weeks prior to the procedure, it is recommended that all clients follow the same precautions, just to be on the safe side.

~ Preventative measure include the application of pigment suppressant topicals and supplement. The topicals are available in both synthetic and natural forms. The synthetic form is available in creams containing the ingredient hydroquinone, a very effective ingredient in pigment suppressing and lightening. In addition to the topicals, a quality glutathione supplement is also highly recommended.

ON TREATMENT DAY

You don’t want to wear makeup or use andy moisturizers on your day of treatment.  Just come in with clean skin.

We suggest taking an antihistamine one hour before your appointment and continue to take antihistamines for two to three days after your appointment.  This will reduce swelling in the treatment area.

A numbing agent is placed on the treatment area and left to take effect for 30 to 45 minutes.  When the area is sufficiently numb the treatment will begin.

During the treatment you will feel some heat and minor irritation. Treatment time will last from 45 minutes and up to several hours depending on the size of the treatment area.

During your first appointment you will be given aftercare instructions.  Following these instructions is critical for best results.  No exfoliators or harsh cleansers can be used in the week following treatment.  We recommend a pH balanced soap such as Dove.  You should also avoid rubbing or scratching the treated area.

POST-PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS

Aftercare is crucial to achieve desired results!!

** Use a clean cold pack on treated area 3x/day for 1-3 days until the swelling is gone.

** If needed, you may take ibuprofen on the first day for pain relief.

** Take arnica montana pills to promote healing. These are very tiny pills that can be found at Down to Earth or other natural food stores. Follow these arnica directions below:

1- On the first day, place 5 pieces per hour under the tongue and let it melt.

2- On the second day, place 5 pieces under the tongue 2-3 times per day. Do this for several days.

** Sports, swimming, and sauna are only permitted after the crusts have all fallen off and the would is completely healed. You will know when it is completely healed when it is no longer pink in color.

** VERY IMPORTANT!! **

The crusts will usually fall off within 4-7 days.

It is ESSENTIAL to use sunblock 50 or higher and avoid tanning beds and direct sunlight on treated area for 3-4 weeks or until your normal skin color has been restored and all red/pink color has disappeared.

Doing this protects against HYPERPIGMENTATION, which are dark spots, where the crusts were, especially for Fitzpatrick Skin Types 4, 5, 6! In the even hyperpigmentation occurs, it may remain that ways for months.

In some cases, the skin may appear slight pinkish in color for up to 3 months, which means, a continued use of SPF50 is still necessary.

Plasmablast HEALING AGENDA &

Important AFTERCARE Instructions

Proper care following your procedure is CRUCIAL to achieve optimum results.

Review and follow the directions provided below.

If, during your healing process, you have any questions or concerns, contact me at any time.  Due to exposure to environmental bacteria during the healing period, there is always a low risk of infection to the procedural site. In the event you should develop an infection please contact your physician immediately and advise me at your earliest convenience.

DAY OF TREATMENT

The treatment area is inflamed with dark crust-like dots on your skin. In the hours following your plasmasthetic treatment, a mild burning sensation (similar to a sunburn) may be experienced. This should subside within a couple of hours. If this discomfort lasts longer, anti-inflammatory medication can be taken, such as ibuprofen, providing adequate health conditions and no contraindications with any other medications you may be taking.

~ Before leaving the facility, soothing ointment will be applied to the treatment area to protect and assist in the healing process. It is not necessary to wash it off, until the next morning.

~ Place 5 Arnica Montana pills under the tongue and let it melt. Do this every hour until bedtime.

~ It is recommended that the water used to clean the area has been boiled and cooled. Or, just use distilled water. Use a gentle neutral cleanser without perfumes, alcohol, and other harsh ingredients.

~ After plasmasthetics treatments, a clean sterile cold compress can be applied, in ratio of 10:30 increments (10 min on/30 min off), 1-3x/day for the next 3 days to reduce swelling. Be sure to use a barrier between the skin and the ice, such as a paper towel, to prevent skin tissue damage.

~ Adding an extra pillow when sleeping will help with lymphatic drainage.

DAY2

Some slight swelling on and around the treatment area.

Place 5 pills under the tongue and let it melt. Do this 2-3 times daily.

Continue to apply cold/ice compress in the same 10/30 time increments.

DAY 3

The height of swelling will occur around the 3rd day.

Place 5 pills under the tongue and let it melt. Do this 2-3 times daily.

DAY4

~ Swelling begins to subside.

~ Between days 4-7, the dark crusts will begin to dry and exfoliate. As the skin heals, you may experience slight itchiness. DO NOT pick, peel, scratch. Once the dark crusts exfoliate, a very thin white layer of skin also needs to exfoliate. This is the second layer of the scabbing process. Don’t be concerned if the exfoliation period takes a little longer than 7 days.

~ Place 5 pills under the tongue and let it melt. Do this 2-3 times daily.

DAYS 5-7

~ After exfoliation, the skin will appear pink/red and still very tender to the touch.

~ Assist skin healing with aloe followed by sunblock, until skin returns to its natural color.

DAY 30 (approximately)

Once pink/reddish color disappears, hyperpigmentation may have developed, especially if you are darker complected. If it has, begin to apply hydroquinone cream or other natural melanin suppressant/skin lightening product, followed by sunblock, until the hyperpigment lightens and returns to your natural color. Sunblock is a MUST. Sun may darken the hyperpigmentation spots and keep it that way.

GENERAL

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

* While some may swell more than others, you will most likely experience swelling in and around the treated area. This will generally subside within a 4-5 days, providing all of the very important aftercare instructions are followed very carefully. In the case of an eyelid treatment, it is normal for the lower eyelid to swell as well.

* Aside from cleansing and applying ointment, the treatment area should not need to be touched. However, should there be a need, thoroughly wash your hands before touching the treated area. Do not expose your procedure to unsanitary conditions.

*During the 8-week healing process, DO NOT apply any of the following until all the crusts have fallen off and the pink/redness has disappeared: moisturizers, eye products, makeup, perfumed or alcohol-based cleansers.

* During the 8-week healing process, DO NOT expose your healing skin to hot tubs, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, chemicals, direct sun exposure and tanning beds, until the dark crusts have fallen off and the wound has completely healed.

*Do not apply any adhesive plasters to cover the treated area as this does not allow the area to breathe and heal properly.

*Dryness and itching are quite normal to the treatment and healing process. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR SCRATCH the treated area or you may risk scarring, infection, and undesirable results.
